Vehicle Disposition & Auction Manager
Build a Career You'll Be Proud Of
At DGDG, we create happiness by delivering exceptional automotive experiences for our guests—and exceptional career opportunities for our team members.
Who Thrives at DGDG
The people who succeed here share a few things in common—and it has nothing to do with automotive experience. They're hungry to grow and apply feedback fast. They make everyone around them better and own their results, wins and misses alike. They lead with integrity, caring, performance, and efficiency in everything they do. And they understand that every interaction is a chance to put the guest first.
If that sounds like you, you'll fit right in here.
As the Vehicle Disposition and Auction Manager, you will lead execution of DGDG’s wholesale disposition program from vehicle designation through final settlement, carry out established disposition processes, manage floor pricing and sale timing within approved guidelines, and drive follow-through to maximize net recovery, reduce aging, and release capital. You will work directly with store leadership, Used Car Managers, accounting, DMV/title teams, transportation providers, and auction partners to ensure every wholesale vehicle has a clear plan and moves promptly.
This role will report to the Pre-Owned Operations Director and will be based out of our San Jose office, with frequent travel to our DGDG store locations and auction facilities in Northern California.
Key Responsibilities
- Disposition execution: Execute DGDG’s established disposition process, coordinating approved auction, dealer-to-dealer, and internal transfer plans. Identify exceptions and recommend adjustments to the Pre-Owned Operations Director for approval.
- Inventory accountability: Review aging and disposition opportunities across the group. Partner with the Pre-Owned Operations Director to require wholesale designation when retail vehicles reach established group aging limits.
- Auction execution: Manage floors, runlists, announcements, sale placement, and bid negotiations, including counteroffers, within established authority.
- Unsold vehicles: Establish a new plan within 24 hours of a no-sale, including repricing or rerunning within approved guidelines, and recommend channel changes for approval.
- Store readiness and transportation: Coordinate deadlines for keys, title clearance, condition information, and transportation. Hold stores and partners accountable for completing their assigned actions and resolve delays.
- Auction relationships: Manage daily partner performance, fees, service quality, arbitration, cancellations, and returned vehicles.
- Inventory reporting and settlement: Track every VIN from designation through settlement. Maintain accurate location, aging, title status, floor, and next-action records; reconcile inventory and sale results with accounting.
- Performance improvement: Identify appraisal, acquisition, condition, and process issues contributing to wholesale losses. Recommend improvements to buying guidelines and retail-versus-wholesale decisions to improve inventory quality and net recovery.
- Acquisition strategy support: Partner with the Pre-Owned Operations Director and Buying Center to improve retail-versus-wholesale recommendations for Acquire Cars (Sell2DGDG). Use disposition results and market insights to help refine the acquisition algorithm and establish clear store guidelines for the intended exit strategy at acquisition.
