36paths is a Canadian career accelerator that invests in underestimated university students and young professionals. We match students with an experienced professional from their target industry (Yes, that is you!) to teach them everything they need to land their dream job. The program does not require any upfront tuition. Students simply pay back 10% of their first-year annual base salary if and only if they accept a job offer they are happy with.

Job Description

About This Opportunity
As an Industry Career Coach, you will immediately contribute to our mission of helping university students and young professionals land great job offers. The kind of coaches we are looking for are not your typical “Career Strategists” who often give generic and outdated career advice students can easily find online. In contrast, you are an experienced professional working in one of the eight industries: Finance, Accounting, Consulting, Marketing, Product, Design, Data, Engineering. Additionally, you are an empathetic and natural teacher who is excited to handhold students throughout the entire job search journey and help them with resume/cover letter writing, interview preparation, networking best practices, offer evaluation/salary negotiation among others.

Your Responsibilities

Provide 1-on-1 coaching to our students to accelerate the job search process
Invest in students’ personal stories and help them map out the ideal career path
Teach students industry knowledge and craft the perfect resume/cover letter and LinkedIn profile
Help students with mock interviews, networking and communication with recruiters/hiring managers
Enhance the 36paths program by proactively providing feedback and insights
Advise students throughout the journey from how to dress for interviews to salary negotiation

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

1+ years of professional experience in one of the eight industries: Finance, Accounting, Consulting, Marketing, Product, Design, Data, Engineering
Excellent command of English and communication skills (both written and oral)
Passion for mentorship and helping others, especially underdogs, succeed in their early career
A deep sense of empathy, goal-oriented with a strong bias toward action, and the ability to ask right questions and motivate others
Availability to commit an average of 1-3 hours per week for 8-12 weeks

Preferred Qualifications

2-5 years of professional experience in one or more of the eight industries: Finance, Accounting, Consulting, Marketing, Product, Design, Data, Engineering
Bachelor’s Degree or Master’s degree in one of the eight domains above or in a related field
Diverse professional experience in both established organizations and growing startups
Experience in teaching, career coaching, and recruiting
Ability to provide testimonials from previous successful coaching engagements
Willingness to contribute to the development of an effective curriculum for students at 36paths
