Job Description

Key Roles and Responsibilities:

● Manage key aspects of Castings & Extrusion products for new model development.
● Leads the Product attributes decomposition into architecture decisions by working closely
with Technology, UX, Vehicle Integration and Marketing functions.
● Review design output from castings team & relevant products from other CoC’s.
● Work with CAE team & VI in optimising design for strength, durability, NVH and integration
on to vehicle.
● Plan and oversee the delivery of many major castings & extrusion products within the requirements of the company's New Product Development system.
● Design systems and components for new and updated casting & extrusion products,
considering function, cost, manufacture, assembly, and quality.
● Produce good quality 3D CAD models using Unigraphics NX / Creo. .
● Follow and help maintain design, operational and quality procedures.
● Drive Analysis based design and defining simulation requirements for casting & extrusion
products.
● Produce supporting documentation for designs, as required.
● Perform Freedom to Operate (FTO) study, White space analysis and generate Patents out of
new ideas, design & concepts.
● Lead & perform Root Cause Analysis (RCA) on failure parts & update design as required.
● Liaise with external stakeholders including domestic & international suppliers.
● Manage time and workload effectively.
● Represent the design team or PD department in interdepartmental meetings in the absence of the team leader.
● Generate & maintain design guidelines & standards for Casting & Extrusion products.
Supporting stakeholders
● Propose and initiate automotive technology projects and activities aligning with department level roadmap.
● Focus on searching, experimenting, and deploying cutting-edge systems to achieve
enterprise level strategies.
● In-depth knowledge of castings & extrusion products – Motor housings, Gearbox housings,
Grab rail, Step holder brackets, Foot pegs, Frame (Cast parts), cooling plates, heat sinks,
electronic controller housings etc.
● Working experience on casting products - Design, Development, Testing & problem
resolution.
● Deep understanding of structural, NVH & the influence on casting & extrusion products.
● Expertise in LPDC & HPDC design & flow simulations. .
● Proficient in 3D CAD – Unigraphics NX & Creo.
● Experience in designing to Regulatory requirements as applied to motorcycles is
preferable.
● Excellence in analytical thinking & strong awareness of DFSS (Design for Six Sigma)
Automotive Engineering:
● Knowledge in Casting, Extrusion, Cooling plate design - especially for EV’s.
● Good awareness of Various domains, systems and components involved in Two Wheelers -

Qualifications

B-tech / Diploma in Mechanical
