Location Qualifications: Ghent (hybrid 2x week in office) or Bucharest (hybrid 2x week in office) About the position As a Backend Engineer in one of our AI-focused teams, you will help build intelligent, AI-powered features that enhance how sales teams work. You’ll develop and maintain serverless, event-driven systems and APIs that integrate with third-party services. Working closely with senior engineers, you’ll take ownership of well-scoped features and contribute to technical and product discussions, helping design solutions that use modern AI capabilities to deliver real value to users. Rather than a monolithic environment, you’ll work within an ecosystem of services and help improve their reliability and quality. Your work will shape the end-user experience for all our customers. &nbsp; Key Responsibilities <ul> <li>Build AI-powered features that use large language models to automate and enhance user workflows.</li> <li>Contribute to improving our development processes and environments.</li> <li>Build and maintain integrations with third-party platforms and APIs.</li> <li>Help implement and maintain our growing ecosystem of microservices.</li> <li>Work in teams where code reviews and pair programming are part of our strong engineering culture, learning from experienced engineers and sharing what you know.</li> <li>Apply a security-first approach to the features and changes you deliver.</li> <li>Grow your technical and architectural skills through mentoring from senior engineers, and support more junior colleagues where you can.</li> <li>Keep the bigger picture in mind, because your work will reach 100,000 users globally.</li> </ul> &nbsp; Are you our next Backend&nbsp; Engineer? Must haves <ul> <li>3+ years developing production-ready backend systems.</li> <li>Solid proficiency in TypeScript and Node.js. Experience with JVM languages is a plus.</li> <li>Interest in or early experience with AI/LLM integration and prompt engineering.</li> <li>Working knowledge of event-driven systems (message queues, asynchronous workflows). Experience with serverless architectures and state machines is a plus.</li> <li>Experience in a cloud environment. AWS experience is a plus, particularly Lambda, DynamoDB, Bedrock, OpenSearch, and API Gateway.</li> <li>A solid understanding of why testing matters at every stage, with practical experience writing unit and integration tests. Familiarity with test-driven development is a plus.</li> <li>Ability to break down and estimate well-defined pieces of work, and to prioritize them with guidance.</li> <li>Ability to model data and queries around feature requirements with performance in mind.
