We are seeking a skilled Senior Java Software Engineer to join our team in building and scaling our next-generation automated translation and localization platform. In this role, you will work closely with our engineering and product teams to integrate state-of-the-art AI/LLM models and machine translation engines into our enterprise content-processing ecosystem. You will design and implement high-performance microservices, event-driven pipelines, and robust APIs to support global media expansion, multi-language publishing, and real-time content delivery. <h3 data-path-to-node="8">Key Responsibilities</h3> <ul data-path-to-node="9"> <li> Platform Development: Develop and enhance core translation services and backend applications using Java and Spring Boot. </li> <li> Optimization &amp; Evaluation: Support direct integrations with translation providers; continually evaluate and improve translation quality, system scalability, cost efficiency, and latency. </li> <li> API &amp; Event Pipelines: Build highly available, reliable REST APIs and Kafka-driven asynchronous pipelines for processing high-volume content and translation tasks. </li> <li> Operational Excellence: Implement end-to-end monitoring, logging, error handling, retries, automated testing, and validation mechanisms for complex translation workflows. </li> <li> Scale &amp; Performance: Drive performance tuning and architecture enhancements to handle increasing translation volumes seamlessly. </li> <li> Production Support: Assist with production deployments, CI/CD pipelines, system monitoring, and troubleshooting to ensure platform stability. </li> <li> Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with cross-functional engineering teams, product managers, and key stakeholders on technical design, system architecture, code reviews, and documentation. </li> <li> Global Expansion: Contribute to the long-term evolution of the platform to support international expansion, additional languages, and diverse content formats across major media brands (including WSJ and international outlets). </li> </ul> <h3 data-path-to-node="11">Qualifications &amp; Skills</h3> <h4 data-path-to-node="12">Required:</h4> <ul data-path-to-node="13"> <li> Core Backend: Proven expertise in Java and Spring Boot for building scalable RESTful APIs and enterprise microservices. </li> <li> Cloud &amp; Infrastructure: Hands-on experience with Google Cloud Platform (GCP) or other major public cloud environments. </li> <li> Event-Driven Architecture: Experience with Apache Kafka or similar messaging systems for event-driven architectures and streaming pipelines. </li> <li> Software Engineering Practices: Proficiency with Git, CI/CD pipelines, automated testing (unit, integration, e2e), code reviews, and Agile methodologies. </li> <li> Communication: Excellent technical communication skills with fluency in written and spoken English. </li> </ul> <h4 data-path-to-node="14">Preferred / Nice to Have:</h4> <ul data-path-to-node="15"> <li> Prior experience building or maintaining content management platforms (CMS), digital publishing systems, or media workflows. </li> <li> Experience evaluating LLM prompt engineering, fine-tuning, or MT quality estimation metrics (e.g., BLEU, COMET). </li> </ul> What we offer: <ul> <li>A High-Impact Environment</li> <li>Commitment to Professional Development</li> <li>Flexible and Collaborative Culture</li> <li>Global Opportunities</li> <li>Vibrant Community</li> <li>Total Rewards</li> </ul> &nbsp; *Specific benefits are determined by the employment type and location.
