You’ll earn while you learn with a mix of on-and-off the job training at TAFE SA (Electrical), and at other dedicated training facilities over four years. We offer the following apprenticeships Electrical Apprenticeship Check back later As an Enerven Electrical Apprentice you will work on the high-voltage infrastructure that keeps power flowing across the state. Instead of installing power points or wiring houses, you’ll be working on the large-scale equipment (such as transformers, circuit breakers, switchgear and control systems) that controls and distributes electricity from power stations to the grid. You will gain practical, hands-on experience working in substation construction and maintenance, renewable infrastructure construction, control systems installation and manufacture, all while completing a Certificate III in Electrotechnology Electrician. The training you’ll receive will focus on network infrastructure, so although you’ll be eligible for an electrical worker’s licence allowing you to work on both domestic and commercial electrical installations, this is not the focus of the role. A day in the life of electrical tradespeople working at Enerven could include: building and maintaining substations; installing and servicing circuit breakers, transformers and switching equipment; installing and maintaining systems for controlling the distribution network; performing high voltage switching on the distribution network; restoring electricity supply during emergencies; installing and maintaining metering and related equipment; troubleshooting and fixing faults on the distribution network; and connecting customers to the distribution network. Powerline Transmission Apprenticeship Check back later When you complete a Powerline Transmission Apprenticeship, you will be awarded the nationally recognised Certificate III in ESI – Transmission Overhead (UET30521). This type of powerline transmission work is at heights above 13 metres and up to 120 metres. The work is usually heavier than distribution type work and carried out with higher powerline tensions. It requires the operation of specialised equipment, and there are opportunities to develop specialist skills in live powerline work and plant operation. Please note that this work entails working across the state and can involve living away from home for periods of time. Powerline Distribution Apprenticeship Check back later When you complete a Powerline Distribution Apprenticeship, you will be awarded the nationally recognised Certificate III in ESI – Distribution Overhead (UTE30621) As a powerline worker, the critical components to your role will be to construct and maintain overhead and underground electrical powerlines and structures (the poles and wires you see in the streets as well as the underground network) to ensure the community is connected to the grid. On completion of a Powerline Apprenticeship, you will receive a restricted electrical workers licence.
