Job Description: Technical Program Management Director, Digital Marketing
Location: San Francisco, CA and Seattle, WA

About the Role

Salesforce is rethinking how digital marketing gets built and delivered. Our email and messaging platform is shifting to an agent-first model, changing how teams plan, ship, and measure success. As Director of Technical Program Management, you will lead high-impact, cross-functional programs where humans and AI agents work side by side to drive marketing outcomes.
You will lead the transformation of Salesforce's email and messaging operations: keeping today's high-volume systems reliable while delivering the next-generation agentic email platform, powered by Marketing Cloud and Data Cloud. You will align product, engineering, and marketing leadership around a shared vision, and use AI to change how complex programs are planned, tracked, and delivered. This is a high-visibility role that directly supports the priorities of the CMO and CDO.

What success looks like:

  • First 90 days: Map the current email and messaging program portfolio, dependencies, and risks. Establish the steering committee cadence and a single source of truth for program status.
  • First 12 months: Deliver key milestones of the agentic email platform with no loss of reliability, deliverability, or compliance in current systems. Embed AI-assisted program practices (planning, risk detection, status reporting) across your programs.

About You

  • You have led large-scale, multi-team technical programs in dynamic software focussed environments, e.g. marketing technology, or email/messaging platforms, or customer data platforms.
  • You are credible with engineers and executives alike: comfortable going deep on architecture and dependencies, then summarizing for the CMO or CDO.
  • You build relationships and drive alignment across product, engineering, marketing, UX, and CX in a matrix organization.
  • You are curious about AI and have applied it to how work gets done (planning, automation, reporting), not just to the product.
  • You bring calm, clarity, and urgency in complex or ambiguous situations.
  • You think customer-first and value transparent communication.

Your Impact - Responsibilities

Program leadership

  • Own end-to-end delivery of one or more strategic programs: define scope, release plan, program structure, and success metrics tied to business goals.
  • Lead cross-team dependencies across scrum teams, functions, divisions, and partners; anticipate and clear blockers quickly.

Executive alignment

  • Run steering committees to drive decisions, resolve escalations, and keep business goals and strategic vision on track.
  • Be a trusted advisor to executive leadership; deliver monthly program reviews covering progress, risks, and critical issues.

Operational excellence

  • Balance run and build: keep current email and messaging systems reliable (production issues, deliverability, compliance) while delivering the new platform.
  • Run cross-functional working sessions with Product Owners, Marketing, Scrum Leads, UX, and CX on releases, dependencies, metrics, and status.

AI-enabled ways of working

  • Introduce AI-powered approaches to program management and partner with teams building agentic capabilities.

Org and culture

  • Foster a collaborative environment that encourages creativity, innovation, and learning.
  • Act as a change catalyst, advancing the Technology, Marketing & Products strategy globally.
  • Create clarity from chaos.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Information Technology, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 10+ years of technical program or engineering management experience at an enterprise technology company, including leading multi-team programs at director scope.
  • 7+ years leading SaaS product development programs, with solid understanding of the SaaS business model and product development lifecycle.
  • Deep experience with the software development lifecycle and agile methods, adapting them to dynamic environments.
  • Proven ability to build credibility with senior executives and drive consensus in a cross-functional, matrix environment.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a hands-on, detail-oriented approach.
  • Experience with portfolio management.
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and relationship-building skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with marketing technology, email/messaging platforms, or customer data platforms (e.g., Marketing Cloud, Data Cloud, or comparable tools).
  • Familiarity with email deliverability, privacy, and compliance (e.g., CAN-SPAM, GDPR).
  • Hands-on experience applying AI or automation to program delivery.
  • Experience supporting C-level or CMO/CDO-level stakeholders.
