The Guo Laboratory at The Ohio State University is seeking a research technician, eager to support research studying the molecular mechanism of tumor cells manipulating glucose, glutamine and lipid metabolism.

The successful candidate will be motivated, have experience performing routine laboratory management tasks as well as experience in performing basic laboratory procedures, and have a collaborative attitude.

Additional Information:

The successful candidate will be motivated, have experience working with mice/managing mouse colonies and have a collaborative attitude.

Primary Responsibilities

Work with other lab members to oversee and manage mouse colonies.
Create and maintain animal records and inventory.
Provide colony updates to the lab at lab meetings.
Assist lab personnel as necessary in performing routine animal work on metabolic projects.
Assist lab personnel with routine laboratory assays.
Purchase supplies for the laboratory and record usage for future reference.

Required Qualifications

B.S. in Biology, Biochemistry or in a comparable field or discipline.
Demonstrated ability to perform mouse colony management tasks (including but not limited to: setting up breeding crosses, weaning, handling, tagging, documentation, sample collection).
Motivated to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary research setting.
Strong communication skills.

Preferred Experience

Prior experience working with and maintaining transgenic mouse models and/or tumor modeling in mice.
Prior experience using colony management software (mLIMS preferred).
Ability to perform routine laboratory assays (including: Western blot, PCR, genotyping).
