Job Summary
As Production Engineer, you will turn customer orders and product documentation into complete, ready-to-run production orders. You will define the most efficient production method, the sequence of operations, the materials required, the machine settings and the standard times. You will also provide clear work instructions, reliable cost calculations and complete documentation for Production and Quality teams.
Through careful preparation, you will contribute directly to efficient production, minimal waste and dependable delivery to our customers. Every product leaves our factory with a work order pack containing instructions, drawings, procedures and picking lists, and you are the one who creates it.
This is a hands-on preparation role within Supply Chain; the design of new cables remains with Design Engineering
About the Team
You will be part of Supply Chain, working closely with Production, Design Engineering, Planning, Purchasing, Quality, Sales and Customer Service. Together, the team turns customer and design information into a well-controlled production process.
The working style is practical and direct: you will align technical and logistical information, resolve production queries and make sure that changes are correctly reflected in work orders and systems.
Key Responsibilities
- Turn customer orders, drawings, procedures and contract review information into complete production work orders in the ERP system.
- Create and maintain bills of materials, processing steps, material requirements, machine settings, product setup sheets and clear work instructions.
- Define production methods, operation sequences, batch sizes and machine times to minimise costs and material waste.
- Prepare quote masters, product cost calculations and financial pre-calculations to support quotations and order entry.
- Process non-conformance reports and production feedback in work orders, and coordinate any necessary rework with Production and Design Engineering.
- Keep technical datasheets, drawings, procedures and other production information up to date in the designated systems.
- Implement minor changes approved by Design Engineering to existing drawings, measurement books and FAT reports, and independently handle repeat orders and orders with minor modifications.
- Gather production documentation and measurement results to compile complete article production reports and documentation manuals for customers.
- Analyze production feedback and post-calculation results, and advise on standard times, machine utilization and opportunities to improve production efficiency.
Qualifications
Required
- A Bachelor’s degree (HBO) in Supply Chain Management, Logistics Management, Industrial Engineering or a comparable discipline, or a technical MBO level 4 qualification (for example in work preparation, process engineering or electrical engineering), or demonstrable equivalent professional experience.
- Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in production engineering within a technical manufacturing or assembly environment.
- Technical affinity, with the ability to read and interpret technical drawings, diagrams and production information, and to prepare technical calculations, bills of materials, material calculations and production-order cost calculations.
- Basic knowledge of production and assembly methods, materials, machine times and standard times.
- Experience with ERP systems and Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook and Teams).
- A precise, practical and structured way of working: you are a hands-on doer who keeps an overview, sets the right priorities, switches easily between tasks and quickly adapts to new systems. You communicate well, stay resilient under pressure and collaborate effectively with technical and operational departments.
- Good command of spoken and written Dutch and English (minimum CEFR level B2), and a commitment to working in line with company, health and safety, environmental and quality procedures.
Preferred
- Hands-on experience in a technical manufacturing environment, ideally in metal engineering, cable production or assembly.
- Experience with Visual Manufacturing or a comparable manufacturing ERP system.
- Familiarity with AutoCAD or similar software, particularly for reading and making light amendments to existing technical drawings.
- Knowledge of cable products, components, materials and termination processes.
- Experience with NCRs, rework orders, pre- and post-calculations or the compilation of technical customer documentation.
Benefits

- 8% holiday allowance
- 40 total days off annually: 27 vacation days plus 13 ADV days under the Metalektro Collective Labor Agreement. With several days collectively assigned (including May 15th)
- Robust pension scheme ensuring long-term financial security
